Blackhawks are only team without a regulation loss (origins of this picture are unknown)

When the Anheim Ducks defeated the San Jose Sharks early Tuesday morning thanks to two third period goals by  Saku Koivu and Sheldon Souray in a 2-1 regulation win, the Chicago Blackhawks became the only NHL team without a regulation loss. Yes, they came within 2.1 seconds of a loss in Calgary but close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades and atomic bombs as the Hawks secured two road points instead of a regulation loss in the Saddledome.

In a shortened season a fast start to the season was in order and you have to start with the leadership of the team with Jonathan Toews leading team practices during the lockout as a big factor in the fast start.  The other huge reason for the start has been Patrick Kane who came into this season in mid-season form from playing overseas.  Kane looks like a man on a mission especially when he gets any open ice in front of him.

The fast start is exactly what the doctor ordered, and it can lead to starting series on home ice in front of the United Center crowd during the playoffs instead of the road like the last two disappointing playoff runs.  Yes we are getting way ahead of ourselves with 39 games remaining and 3 games left on the ice show road trip.  It’s not how you start but how you finish, but a great start can certainly contribute to a great finish!

Let’s Go Blackhawks!!!
