On February 27, 1977 at Chicago Stadium Stan Mikita scored his 500th goal of his Chicago Blackhawks career. This video provides the footage of a beautiful end to end goal by Mikita while beating two Vancouver Canucks defenseman.
Mikita the all-time Chicago Blackhawks point scorer with 1,467 points is second all-time in goals scored for the Hawks with 541. When Mikita scored his milestone goal he became only the 8th NHL player ever at the time to reach the 500 goal milestone.
The Chicago Stadium crowd gave Mikita a 4 minute and 40 second ovation while after the game Mikita told everyone the only regret of the night was the final score which read 4-3 Canucks.
A great milestone night for a one of the greatest Hawks of all-time happened on this date 36 years ago today.
