March Madness Real #1 Seed Is The Chicago Blackhawks!

Yes it’s NCAA Bracket time with Louisville, Gonzaga, Kansas, and Indiana all are #1 seeds going into the Big Dance, but we are talking about the NHL (although don’t forget to sign up for Sports Illustrated Bracket Challenge Contest).

The Stanley Cup playoffs start after the Hawks play 20 more games and although there isn’t a selection committee to decide these things if there were it would be easy to come up with the #1 seed.  The Hawks have earned this honor with their play on the ice.  They have won games in every style possible and have received great performances from every player on the roster.

The stars have played like stars and role players have played their roles and the goalies have played better than expected. A team where everyone plays their role that is stocked with talent is one tough nut to crack.  The Hawks looked a little tired when they lost consecutive game to Colorado and Edmonton, but last night after the team had some rest and practice they came out of the gate flying and never let off the gas.  In the end it was a 8-1 whitewash and the Dallas Stars their fans and their commentators could only shake their heads in amazement.  The Dallas TV announcers even went Dennis Green with the Hawks ARE who we thought they were and we are down 6-0.

The Hawks season will be incomplete just like the last two post-seasons if they come home empty handed without a Stanley Cup.  The Hawks have their championship but to become legends this core group of players needs to hoist the Cup at least one more time and this group of players has positioned themselves for that task this season.

All the Hawks have won so far is national attention and well 23 games the real number everyone will be looking for is 16 and that is all that matters!! The Hawks are the #1 Seed today but they need to end #1 most importantly in June!!
