On This Date In Chicago Blackhawks History,

On March 23, 1952 Bill Mosienko scored the fastest hat trick in NHL history when he scored 3 goals in an amazing 21 seconds! The Hawks were trailing 6-2 entering the 3rd period but the power of the hat trick was too much for goalie Lorne Anderson and the NY Rangers to match and the Hawks won the game 7-6.

Mosienko had 4 career hat tricks in his 14 year Blackhawks career which included 258 goals and 252 assists and a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The 1952 Blackhawks finished last and missed the playoffs.  Since it was a meaningless game at the end of the season only 3,254 people were in attendance for NHL history.

An all-time great scored the fastest hat trick in NHL history on this date 61 years ago today!
