Clinch Playoff Birth-Check!
The Blackhawks have clinched their 5th straight playoff appearance, and now they have a 1 in 16 chance at hoisting the Stanley Cup. For the first time since winning the cup the path to the playoff appearance didn’t take a bunch of stress at the end of the year. The Hawks are on their way to clinching home ice advantage for the better part of the playoffs. With their great start players (Patrick Sharp, Marian Hossa) have not had to be rushed back from injury so that they are prepared for the playoff run.
The Hawks do have the 2nd longest playoff all-time run at 28 years from 1970-1997 which is quite incredible, to put that in perspective if the Hawks were to repeat that streak Patrick Kane would be 47 years old when the streak would come to an end.
Congrats on the playoff birth but there is a whole lot of work left to accomplish!
Clinching a spot only give you a shot, the rest is up to the team to achieve. The Cup is the goal but to get to that goal you have to clinch a playoff spot and now in a shortened season this task is complete!
