The Blackhawks for the third straight day would be playing the Columbus Blue Jackets. The end of the week could be a nightly change in the 8th seed but for today and tomorrow it will be the Blue Jackets in the 8th seed.

Last night’s only playoff implication game was huge one in the standings with Detroit shutting out Phoenix 4-0.  The Red Wings are almost in a can’t lose situation to make it to their 22nd straight playoff, and they got two big goals from Johan Franzen for the win.  The loss by the Coyotes all but eliminated them from the playoffs.

The current standings for the fight for the #8 seed is as follows

6. St Louis Blues-54 points with 3 games remaining

7. Minnesota Wild-51 points with 3 games remaining

8. Columbus Blue Jackets-51 points with 2 games remaining

On the Outside looking in on the playoffs

-Detroit Red Wings  50 points with 3 games remaining

-Dallas Stars 48 points with 3 games remaining

-Phoenix Coyotes 46 points with 3 games remaining

Colorado Avalanche at St Louis Blues- The Blues can lock down a playoff appearance with a victory.

Los Angeles Kings at Minnesota Wild- The Wild are leaking oil and need a win badly to keep their playoff hopes afloat.

Dallas Stars at San Jose Sharks- The Stars in must win game. They cannot afford to leave San Jose without two points.
