If the playoffs started today the Hawks would be facing the evil empire of Detroit. The Red Wings have pulled out two impressive victories in a row to go from outside looking in to the current #8 seed.
Last night’s playoff implication games
Detroit Red Wings-3 Los Angeles Kings-1 Johan Franzen continues his hot streak scoring his third goal in the last two must win games, and Jimmy Howard stopped 22 out of 23 shots to preserve the victory.
Phoenix Coyotes-2 San Jose Sharks-1 The Coyotes scored twice in the first and held on for the victory, but with Detroit earning two points the Coyotes were eliminated from the playoffs this season.
The Standings in the Race For #8
6. St Louis Blues-56 points with 2 games remaining
7. Minnesota Wild- 53 points with 2 games remaining
8. Detroit Red Wings- 52 points with 2 games remaining
On the Outside looking in–
-Columbus Blue Jackets- 51 points with 2 games remaining
-Dallas Stars -48 points with 2 games remaining
The Playoff implication schedule for today’s game is as follows:
Nashville Predators at Detroit Red Wings- It would be great to see Pekka Rinne march in to Motown and lull the Red Wings right to sleep and on the doorstep of missing the playoffs.
Calgary Flames at St Louis Blues- The Blues win this game and it guarantees them of missing the Hawks in the first round.
Columbus Blue Jackets at Dallas Stars- This is basically a one game playoff game and even if the Stars win everything would have to fall perfectly for them to qualify for the playoffs.
Who are you rooting for to make the playoffs and who are you rooting against?
