Stanton set a career-high in assists this season with 14. He also added 3 goals for a 17-point campaign, in 76 games. He was named the IceHogs top defenseman for this season, and has had 3 seasons at the pro level, all with the Hogs. At 6’2″, 205 lb, Stanton is a big defensive presence, and could fit in well with Nick Leddy for the 3rd pairing on the Hawks blueline. Coach Joel Quenneville said that Stanton “could play” tomorrow in the season finale against the Blues. If it happens, it will be Stanton’s NHL debut.
In the last 2 games of meaninglessness, the Blackhawks have the luxury of bringing up young talent for a taste of NHL experience. On that note, Carter Hutton may start in net against St. Louis.
The Blackhawks take on the Calgary Flames tonight at 7:30.
