Congratulations to Jonathan Toews Captain of the Chicago Blackhawks!!

Toews is the 2013  Frank J. Selke Trophy Award Winner.  The trophy is awarded to the best defensive forward in the NHL.  Toews not only scored 23 goals with 25 assists but he had a +rating of 28 which ranked 3rd in the NHL.

Toews in his six seasons in the NHL has a +115 rating while already collecting 372 career points.  There aren’t enough adjectives to describe the Captain, but he can and does it all for the Hawks from scoring to playing defense, to killing penalties to winning faceoffs.  Toews is not only one of the best players in the NHL but this award proves what we as Blackhawks fans already now is that Toews is one of the best 2-way players in the NHL.

Ironically the last Chicago Blackhawk player to win the Selke was Dirk Graham in 1991 the same season that the Hawks won the President’s trophy.

Even though it isn’t the Hart trophy for MVP, it great to see the Captain finally honored for his great play on both ends of the ice!!

Congrats Captain!! You Earned it!!
