So the Chicago Blackhawks plane arrived late into Boston yesterday, and it looked like the real players never got off of it Monday night in Boston. To make things worse Marian Hossa due to a pre-game injury didn’t dress for Game #3.
The big news going into Game #3 was supposed to be the energy of Vikor Stalberg but it really was the unexpected return of 2011 playoff hero Ben Smith to the lineup. Smith played hard and skated good all through the game and had a couple of chances.
The real story of the game can be summed up with this.. Our powerplay is a disgrace!!!
-Going into the playoffs the Hawks continued to say they could win without a good powerplay.
– The powerplay that was unwatchable last season in the playoffs is 10 times worse!
-The Bruins had 3 scoring chances short-handed on ONE yes ONE Hawks powerplay.
-There is absolutely no sense of urgency in getting to the opponents zone after the puck is cleared. The lame back pass to Kane streaking doesn’t work.
-With less than a minute left in the powerplay Nick Leddy will try to make a 1 on 3 or 4 move get behind the net and lose the puck…This gets old too.
– Bryan Bickell should be camped out in front of the net and he wasn’t all night until the final seconds.
The Hawks made one costly turnover and Dave Bolland had his stick lifted and the Bruins found the back of the net for the only goal they needed. The Bruins would get a 5 on 3 powerplay and score the 2nd goal of the game when the first penalty had just expired to give the Bruins a 2 goal lead in the second period.
The Hawks had their chances but they didn’t hit the net on any of these attempts
-Jonathan Toews has to be hurt because he is a shell of himself.
-Patrick Kane needs to man up and take a hit in the corners
-Dave Bolland needs to find Game #5 Bolland against the Kings real quick
-Michal Handzus appears to be running on empty and should be a scratch for Game #4
-Smith played hard and should be back on the bench for Game #4
-The Hawks have to build on the last period and final minutes when they finally challenged the Bruins. Take it to them.. In the first period of Game #2 the Hawks took it to them and the Bruins were on their heels and in total shell mode. It can be done!
-The last time the Hawks were shut out in the playoffs they won 5 straight games.
-The Hawks are 1-0 on NBC in the Stanley Cup Finals and 0-2 on NBCSN. Game #4 starts around 7:20 pm on NBC so we have that going for us!!
