The first thing on everyone’s mind after the Cup coverage on Monday night ended was when and where is the parade to celebrate the Chicago Blackhawks 2nd Stanley Cup Championship in four years.
The parade starts at 10:30 at the United Center and ends at Grant Park. In 2010 the parade was incredible drawing millions downtown for the first Blackhawks Cup parade in 49 years. This season had record ratings in Chicago and in the country so the expectations for this Friday’s parade has to be bigger than the last one in 2010!
One of the reasons to wait until Friday for the parade is to give everyone the chance to party and spend lots of money at all the businesses downtown. The second reason according to the Mayor is for everyone to have a Ferris Bueller day downtown. The only problem with that is Ferris’s boy Cameron wears a Gordie Howe jersey during the whole movie, but they did end up at Wrigley Field.
If you live out of town and cannot make the parade, NHL Network will be televising the parade starting at 10am eastern. Locally CSN will be televising the parade if you can’t make it down for the celebration. Here is a link for the parade route on Friday.
Don’t miss the celebration with the Stanley Cup Champions and maybe you can see Shake it Up Baby by Ferris!!
