Contract Status– Just signed a 4 yr 16 million dollar contract

Summary– Bickell was part of one of the best 3rd lines in the NHL for most of the season with Andrew Shaw and Viktor Stalberg. Bickell carried his solid play from the 2012 playoffs into the 2013 season.  He played overseas during the lockout and his play was sharp from the beginning until the end.  He is the one big body the Blackhawks have in their lineup that has offensive skills and the ability to throw his body around.  Bickell was given a test run on the top line but his stats were mostly on line #3.

Bickell had a magical run in the playoffs that started in the very first game against the Minnesota Wild when he scored the OT winner,  and ended when he tied up Game #6 with a 1:13 left on the clock just 17 seconds before Dave Bolland won the game and the Stanley Cup.  Bickell played the entire Finals series with a Grade 2 knee sprain which makes Jay Cutler seem soft in Chicago sports history. It’s amazing that Bickell didn’t seem like a fit on the top line during the regular season, but when he played with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane in the post season it seemed magical.

Looking ahead the big question will be if Bickell can carry this great season and even better offseason into a great career without slipping into the soft play that plagued him during a lot of the 2012 campaign.

Our Preseason Prediction– We had Bickell at 7 goals 12 assists and 92 hits so he came in over all of our predictions and all Hawks fans were thrilled with the performance and that he has re-signed!

Grade– An outstanding season with a great postseason with a Stanley Cup starring role, with that performance we give Bickell an A for 2013

What do you think? What is your grade for Bickell?
