Summary– Brandon Bollig was the only Blackhawks with over 19 games played that didn’t register a point in 2013. He has the ability to play 4th line head down checking hockey, but he usually finds a way to get into the penalty box. According to hockeyfights.com Bollig was 1-2-2 in his fights in 2013 and wasn’t even the Hawk that took on Raffi Torres in his first appearance in the lineup against the Hawks, Jamal Mayers fought Torres. Bollig though a fan favorite to some does not really fit in with the Blackhawks puck control play that is based on skill and speed. Bollig would be a great fit in the 1970’s and 1980’s and yet I understand having a Bollig presence out there during a 82 game schedule when playing teams like the St. Louis Blues that are just going to make runs at the Blackhawks stars.
Playoff– Bollig made the ice when Joel Quenneville decided to throw Viktor Stalberg in the doghouse. Bollig could have been hated by Blackhawks fans if the series had turned out another way after his failed clearing attempt in overtime of Game #2. Luckily, the Hawks turned the series around in Game #4 and Bollig name was saved!
Prediction Review– Our season preview on Bollig had him scoring 1 goal and 3 assists with 10 fighting majors. If you picked under on all three you were the winner!
2013-2014 Salary- Brandon Bollig has one year remaining on his contract that pays him $575,000
Grade- Bollig plays hard and knows his role but doesn’t fit the Hawks offensive structure. His grade for the season is D, but fans of Bollig don’t worry with his contract salary number he will be around a lot in 2013-2014.
