Contract Status– 1 year contract remaining with a $825,000 cap hit

Summary– Carcillo didn’t make it past one game without getting hurt.  He was hurt in the opening game in the 2013 season against the Los Angeles Kings and the injury may have been a blessing in disguise for Joel Quenneville.  Carcillo opened the season on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa but the Carcillo injury opened the door for Brandon Saad to emerge as a Calder trophy finalist.

With  all the great moves that Stan Bowman has made the one move that still has Hawks fans shaking their heads two years later is why did he sign Carcillo? He is such a loose cannon that doesn’t fit the Hawks style and he is a danger for the opponent, his teammates and well himself.  Carcillo due to his contract size will more than likely be in and out of the lineup next season so he’s kind of like that cousin that’s highly annoying but you had to play nice with every once in a while.

Carcillo never made it into a playoff game in 2013, but Ben Smith played in Game #3 so that should tell you right there what the coaching staff thinks of Carcillo in crunch time.

Pre-Season Prediction– Our over/under had the Car Bomb at 3 goals 13 assists and a 132 penalty minutes.  The preview also stated zero faith in Carcillo and that all his stats came in under is no surprise to me.

Grade– Carcillo’s grade really should be an incomplete but in order to grade him I give him a D-
