Game Winning Goals-1
Contract Status-Kruger is a restricted free agent but according to Stan Bowman both sides are near the finish line on a new contract
Summary- Kruger after being the Hawks 2nd line center for much of the 2011-2012 season found a new role for himself with the 2013 Blackhawks. Kruger centered the fourth line for most of the year while along with Michael Frolik were part of one of the best penalty killing units in the NHL. Kruger knew his role and played it to the best of his ability including being the checking dummy for most teams around the NHL. The secret to the Hawks success was being able to roll all four lines all season long and Kruger had a big part of that by keeping the 4th line fore checking and tough to play against.
The playoffs were more of the same for Kruger especially on the penalty kill in the first three series that kept almost every man advantage off the scoreboard. It is kind of strange that Kruger scored only 7 goals all season but 3 of them were game winners. The 4th line beauty can be summed up with the final goal of the season when it was the 4th line that scored the winner after Bryan Bickell and the big boys had tied up the game.
Pre-season Prediction– We were just a hair over with the pre-season over/under at 5 goals and 10 assists.
Grade- Kruger was outstanding on special teams while he did his job on the 4th line, and because of this effort we give Kruger a solid B.
What is your grade for Kruger?
