Happy Birthday to Chicago Blackhawks Defenseman Duncan Keith who turns 30 today!
Duncan Keith has been in the Chicago Blackhawks system since he was drafted by the Hawks in 2002 with the 54th selection in the 2nd round. Duncan Keith made it to Chicago in 2005 and had a solid rookie season scoring 9 goals and 12 assists with only two of his career -rating season at -11.
Keith and long time Defense pairing partner Brent Seabrook were there with the Hawks at the tail end of the dark ages and part of the building of this new Hawks glory years which hopefully we are in the middle of a very long stretch.
Keith won the Norris trophy for his 2009-2010 season when he scored 14 goals 55 assists and a +21 rating. Keith also routinely skates the most ice time of all the Hawks game in and game out.
Keith was at his best during the 2010 season but took a small back slide after the Cup win, but really brought his game back in 2013 as the leader of one of the best defenses in the NHL during the shortened season of 2013.
One of my favorite goals during THE STREAK was when Keith blew up Jimmy Howard’s water bottle.
Duncan Keith’s resume at 30 is pretty impressive 2 Stanley Cup Championships, 1 Norris Trophy, 1 Stanley Cup Gold Medal. Hopefully there is a lot more of these accolades to come in Keith’s career!
What is your favorite Keith highlight?
