The Chicago Blackhawks agree on a two-year deal with Drew LeBlanc. Drew LeBlanc the Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner in 2013 with St. Cloud state, appeared in two regular season games with the Blackhawks last season.
LeBlanc who during the 2013 frozen four was called “the best passer/playmaker in college hockey” according to Westerncollegehockeyblog.com, needs to impress the Blackhawks coaching staff this upcoming training camp to have a shot at making the bottom six.
My money is on LeBlanc spending this season mainly down in the AHL with the Rockford Ice hogs. In Rockford LeBlanc can continue to work on his transition from the college game to the pro game. LeBlanc’s college resume shows (42 goals and 147 points in 171 games-NHL.com) that he is a promising player and could possibly make an impact on future of this franchise.
In other news, the Chicago Blackhawks signed Theo Peckham and Michael Kostka to one year contracts. According to NHL.com, Theo Peckham split time with Edmonton Oilers and their AHL affiliate the Oklahoma City Barons; Michael Kostka split time with the Toronto Maple Leafs and their AHL affiliate the Toronto Marlies
