Happy Birthday to Andrew Shaw who celebrates his 22 birthday today! This one is extra special since he gets to see plenty of the Stanley Cup over the summer.
Shaw was selected in the 5th round of the 2011 entry draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, and he had his first taste of the NHL shortly after. He scored on his first ever NHL shot against the Philadelphia Flyers on January 5, 2012, and had 5 goals and 4 assists this past post season to help the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup for the second time in 4 seasons and his first in 1.5.
Although not one of the biggest players on the ice, Shaw likes to give hits and takes twice as many because of his role as agitator. He has a knack for scoring goals off of body deflections from being in the right place at the right time, and none were bigger than the one he scored in the triple overtime period in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against Boston.
Thanks for that one, Shaw!
