The Blackhawks signed Brad Winchester to a one year deal today.  Winchester is some veteran security for the Blackhawks while he will start out the season in Rockford.

Winchester has played 390 NHL Games scoring 37 goals and 31 assists with a -57 rating.  It seems like a strange signing for Bowman who seemed to have been loading up Rockford with youth not 32-year-old players that didn’t even play in the NHL in 2013.

Winchester has played in 24 playoff games over 5 different seasons with his deepest run being with the 2006 Edmonton Oilers.

Other roster news from everyones friend Capgeek.com, Ryan Stanton signed a 2-year contract for $550,000 a year with the second season being a one-way contract, and Drew LeBlanc’s two-year contract is $550,000 the first season (2-way) and $600,000  the second year with that being a one way contract.

The other roster news of the day is that Shawn Lalonde the last Blackhawks restricted free agent decided to pass up another season with Rockford and signed with Berlin Polar Bears of the Deutsche Eishockey League.  Lalonde had played for Rockford Ice Hogs for 204 games throughout the past four seasons. He had scored 13 goals 54 assists Lalonde is the  former 68th selection of the 2008 draft.
