The countdown is on and it’s only 68 days until the Chicago Blackhawks raise their fifth Stanley Cup Banner to the rafters of the United Center.  We are going to use this countdown to look back at the days number and preview the player currently wearing the number!

#68- Only one player in Chicago Blackhawks history has worn #68 and that is Stephen Tepper. Never heard of him? Me either! Tepper played one game in the NHL with the Blackhawks in the 1992-1993 season. Tepper was the 134th selection in the 7th round of the 1987 NHL draft. Tepper played in the minors through 2000 and never made it back to the NHL.

1967-1968 Blackhawks

32-26-16 (4th place)

Goal Leader- Bobby Hull (44)

Assist Leader-Stan Mikita (47)

Penalty Leader -Gilles Marotte (122)

Goalie Wins- Denis DeJordy (22)

The 67-68 Blackhawks beat the New York Rangers 4-2 in the East Semi’s after digging an 0-2 hole, but they were unable to get past the Montreal Canadiens in the East Finals losing 4-1 and falling short of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Current #68- There are no active players currently wearing #68 but the countdown of course missed #88 Patrick Kane and #81 Marian Hossa who have hoisted the Cup twice in four season.
