Michal Handzus underwent to two offseason surgeries. He had one surgery to repair his broken wrist and one surgery to repair a torn MCL.  The doctors have informed him that he will be ready for camp (espnchicago.com).

The rumor is that Handzus will be a part time player and the fourth line center for the Blackhawks.  This would not cause most Blackhawks fans to be concerned.  However this Blackhawks’ fan thinks Handzus was re-signed as an insurance policy for the second line center position. Currently Brandon Pirri and Marcus Kruger are the leading candidates to play second line center.

What if both Pirri and Kruger fail to play well on the second line?? Would Coach Q go back Handzus centering the second line?  Handzus cannot take over as the second line center if he is not healthy.

Are the surgeries for Handzus a concern? This Blackhawks’ fan believes so. Let’s the hope the doctors are right.
