The start doomed the Hawks season and this would be the first of four straight seasons of the Hawks finishing last and missing the playoffs in a 6 team league.

Blackhawks #54 All-Time Points Leader-Richard Preston played 429 career games with Blackhawks from 1979-1987 scoring 96 goals and 127 assists with 257 penalty minutes. Preston has a fairly long and unsuccessful career as a coach since leaving the NHL.
