With the Hockey offseason dragging along, most Hockey fans find refugee in the NHL network, YouTube videos, and of course Hockey movies.

Here are the Top 5 Hockey movies:

5. Slap Shot (1977): the movie that all Hockey fans love to watch. It is a cult classic; everyone loves the fighting and language. We also can’t forget the Hanson brothers. If you haven’t seen it, you are missing out.

4.  Mystery Alaska (1999): a small group of misfits play the New York Rangers in an outdoor Hockey game.  The team is led by the goalie and team captain Russell Crowe.  I can bet that a lot of towns in Canada are very similar to the town portrayed by Mystery.

3.  Kings Ransom (2009): the ESPN 30 for 30 was made by a film director, so it counts on this list. This movie describes the events of how the “great one” Wayne Gretzky was traded from Edmonton to the LA Kings. This takes the viewer behind the scenes on one of the dumbest/smartest trades of all time. The viewer gets information from Gretzky himself. This is a must watch for any sports fan, especially Hockey Fans.

2. D2: Mighty Ducks (1995): the quack is back jack! We fell in love with Gordon Bombay and lovable Ducks after the first Mighty Ducks. In the sequel, we rooted the USA Ducks over the villains from Finland. We also loved to hate their coach the Dentist.  The Goodwill games set the stage for the sequel to the classic Mighty Ducks.  QUACK! QUACK! QUACK!

1. Miracle (2004): Do you believe in Miracles??? – Al Michaels. The 1980 USA Hockey team was voted the greatest sports team of all time. This movie does an excellent job of showing us what those young men endured to win the gold. It is amazing hockey movie but more importantly it is an amazing story.

Honorable mentions: Mighty Ducks and Goon

Dishonorable mentions: Mighty Ducks 3
