Chicago Blackhawks new goalie coach Steve Weeks

The Chicago Blackhawks announced the hiring of Steve Weeks. Steve Weeks will take over as the goalie coach. The position was vacated by Stephen Waite who took the same position with the Montreal Canadians. Weeks brings a vast amount of experience. He has been in hockey for over 25 years as a coach, player, and scout. He most recently coached with the Atlanta Thrashers from 2001-2010.

Before the Thrashers, Weeks was a goalie coach and scout with the Hartford Whalers from 1993 to 2001. On his new position, Weeks stated, “It is an honor to join a championship caliber organization like the Blackhawks”. Weeks went on to say, “I look forward to working with Corey (Crawford) and Nikolai (Khabibulin) and helping contribute to the continued success of the franchise” (NHLBlackhawks.com).

Weeks played 13 seasons in the NHL from 1980 to 1993 appearing in 209 games with the Rangers, Whalers, Islanders, Kings and the Senators.
