Dany Heatley was once a name mentioned in the same breath as the best players in the NHL. Now, two teams and 6 years later, Heatley holds on to his former self, but can’t compete with the man he once was. Heatley only managed 21 points in his injury shortened season, well below the expectations of someone signed to a $6 million dollar year in his contract, one that would cost his Minnesota Wild $7,500,000. It isn’t 2007 anymore, and Heatley isn’t getting any closer to scoring 50 goals again. Turning 32 this year might have something to do with it, and Heatley hasn’t done anything remarkable in several years. Heatley has declined in goals each year since the two consecutive 50-goal campaigns, and the most exciting part about him now is the parody Twitter acount, @danyallstar15 (must-see, hillarious). Heatley has missed no more than two games in four of his last five seasons, and will look for his consistency to give any hope of him getting back among the league’s best.
