The Last Hurrah: Final Season For Some Of The League’s All-Time Greats

All eyes turned to four particular players this off-season, when some of the most legendary men to ever step on the ice battled the question of retirement. The foursome in question were two European forwards, and two North American goaltenders. Teemu Selanne of the Anaheim Ducks made light of his announcement to return, starring in a comedic video that said “Teemu Is Back For The Final Time” at the end. In New Jersey, Jaromir Jagr hinted at 2013 being his last year in the NHL, while his goaltender, Martin Brodeur, could retire this summer as the greatest goalie of all time. Just this week, American goaltender Tim Thomas signed a one-year deal with the Florida Panthers, coming out of a planned hiatus for what could be his last go-round. These players have made their mark on the league many times over, and if it is the last year for some, tearful ceremonies are to come.
