Same Faces, New Places

The action off the ice in the NHL boardrooms was just as exciting on it in 2013, as many shocking, block-buster trades were made. Just a year ago, who would have thought that the Tampa Bay Lightning would ship off the face of their franchise, Vincent Lecavlier, to the Philadelphia Flyers? Or even six months ago, where the newly acquired Jarome Iginla looked like a lock in Pittsburgh? He’s now off to the Boston Bruins as they try to regroup from a Stanley Cup Final loss. With all the talk surrounding Roberto Luongo‘s time with the Vancouver Canucks coming to an end, no one saw the trade that sent Cory Schneider to the New Jersey Devils. These trades saw not only contributors switch scenery, but some teams shipped off their long-time captains, such as the aforementioned Lightning, as well as Ottawa, and Edmonton. The new leaders on each team will make sure the start of the season is exciting to follow, to see just how each team fared in their off-season choices.
