#1: St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues have gotten oh-so-close to that next big step, and 2013-14 is looking like the year they can do it. However, to go deep in the playoffs, they will have to have a strong regular season, and standing in their way are their hated rivals, in the Chicago Blackhawks. St Louis and Chicago both migrated from the previous Central division, and many blood-filled, nasty tilts are in their rear-view mirrors. The Blues’ grit contrasting with. Chicago’s speed and skill always makes for a great game to watch. Chicago has had the best of the matchups lately, but give St. Louis credit for sticking around in most games, at least with fists if not goals. The Blues are looking for a big season from goalie Jaroslav Halak, who is in a contract year, and will expect T.J. Oshie and Alex Steen to emerge as a great young offensive duo. If all goes well, they can grab a high seed in the easier Central Division, and start their playoff journey.
The Blues and Blackhawks start the season series on the 9th of October, follow it up a week later on the 17th, rekindle the fire on the 28th of December, and finish it all off on March 19th.
