Brandon Pirri finally gets the call back to the big team after getting exiled to the Rockford Ice Hogs for two weeks.  Pirri had the misfortune of having an injury at the worst possible time at the very beginning of training camp, and although looking good in the final two preseason games he didn’t survive the final roster cuts for opening night.

Let’s hope Pirri will finally get a chance on the second line starting tonight even though with the last two games the way Joel Quenneville is mixing lines, is there really a second line.  During the offseason, the talk was managing Michal Handzus action and even during last night’s telecast they mentioned a few times that Marian Hossa could be missing the second game of back to back which really makes carrying 8 defenseman a bit silly.

To make room for Pirri, Jimmy Hayes was sent to Rockford. Hayes in limited action has looked better than Joakim Nordstrom, but the Blackhawks staff seems to like Nordstrom and I’m sure Joakim picking up his first career NHL goal last night made the decision to send Hayes back to Rockford that much easier.

Pirri is back now let’s hope he takes firm grasp on the 2nd line center when he gets his opportunity hopefully starting tonight at the United Center!

What do you think? Should Pirri be here to stay?
