The big news before last night’s Chicago Blackhawks vs Buffalo Sabres contest was that Brandon Pirri was going to be making his first appearance of the season.  The hope for most Hawks fans is that Pirri can be the answer for the 2nd line center which seemed to be his for the taking until a training camp injury threw everything for a loop.

Of course when Pirri got his first action of the year it wasn’t on the second line, but he was with Brandon Bollig on the bottom line.  Ironically, it was the bottom line that picked up the initial goal of the contest when Ben Smith knocked it a deflection, and even though he didn’t get a point on the play, the goal gave Pirri a plus rating for the night.

Pirri stat line is as follows: 9:29 of Ice time, 1 shot on goal, 1 blocked shot, and 6/10 on faceoffs and the +1 rating. It wasn’t a ton of action during his first game but even with the small sample size what grade do you give Pirri on his first game of the season?
