On this date in Chicago Blackhawks history,

On October 15, 1983 at old Maple Leaf Gardens the Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs hooked up in a game for the record books.

The final score was 10-8 in favor of the home team in Toronto, but it was the second period that was full of record-breaking materials.  The two teams combined for a record of fastest three goals by two teams in :38 seconds (which has been broken) and for two records that still stand with 4 goals by two teams (53 seconds) and 5 goals by two teams (1:24)

The goals scorers at the end of the second period were Gaston Gingers at 16:49, Denis Savard 17:12, Steve Larmer 17:27, Denis Savard 17;42, and John Anderson 18:12.  Talk about fireworks in Toronto. Some times I miss the 1980’s and non-stop goals and great offense, but those days are long gone.

Denis Savard ended up with a hat trick in the game, but in the end the Hawks lost the contest on a record setting night.

Game 6 was all about 2 goals in 17 seconds, but what a night to be in Toronto to see 5 in 1:24!!
