Today the Chicago Blackhawks announced that Joakim Nordstrom was sent down to Rockford. Nordstrom who shocked everyone by making the Blackhawks out of training camp, was the subject of much criticism.

Nordstrom took a lot of heat for his play on the penalty kill. He had been teamed with Marcus Kruger on the top unit. Nordstrom had been viewed as a replacement for Michael Frolik. Nordstrom did not live up to the expectations.

The belief was that Nordstrom had secured his spot on the roster with a goal against the New York Islanders on October 11th. Nordstrom’s stat line on the season was one goal, zero assists, and two penalty minutes in eight games.

In other news the Blackhawks signed Victor Svedberg to a two year deal. Svedberg will remain with the Rockford Icehogs.

The Blackhawks have not announced who will replace Nordstrom on the roster. The Blackhawks next game is on Tuesday against the Florida Panthers.
