Second Star: Bryan Bickell

Oct 22, 2013; Sunrise, FL, USA; Chicago Blackhawks left wing Bryan Bickell (29) celebrates his goal with center

Marcus Kruger

(16) and right wing

Ben Smith

(28) in the second period against the Florida Panthers at BB

We all knew it was a matter of time before Bryan Bickell started earning his $4 million dollar salary, but he waited just long enough to keep us anxious. Bickell followed up his first goal of the season against Toronto last week with three more, bringing his current scoring streak to four goals in four games. Bickell played just like we remember in last year’s playoffs: physical, gritty, and with a scoring touch. Bickell had 4 hits in Saturday night’s contest against the Wild, a team he victimized in the first round of last year’s Cup run. Keeping his head up all the way down the ice was another plus in Bickell’s game, and he made several slick passes, as well as getting on the receiving end. If Bickell keeps his play going at this rate, Blackhawks’ fans will go from wondering why we signed him for so much money to how we signed him for so little.
