The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-1 Saturday night and on Wednesday night the Hawks picked up where they left on this past weekend.
The Hawks got a few key saves from Corey Crawford early, and then late in the first period Jonathan Toews made a great feed to Patrick Kane that didn’t find the back of the net, but Patrick Sharp got the puck in the corner and passed it back to the Captain who didn’t make a mistake.  The Jets hand a 4 on 2 chance in the final minute, but Ben Smith was there in the nick of time for a shot block, Patrick Kane took the puck in the final seconds and after showing a lot of patience was able to score for a 2-0 first period lead.

The second period was dominated by the Blackhawks with the top line putting on a clinic for the home crowd.  Every shift the Blackhawks top line was on the ice for was nothing but extreme pressure for the Jets.  The only problem was nothing was finding the back of the net.  Late in the 2nd period. Ben Smith found Brandon Pirri at the blue line and he had all day to walk in finish for his 3rd goal of the season.  The Jets spent the majority of the 2nd period in the Hawks end.

The game was never in question, but it was nice to see Patrick Sharp finally pick a well deserved goal midway through the third period.  Corey Crawford didn’t have a lot of action but made some big saves at the right time. He did give up a pretty late goal in the third period which was off a deflection. The highlight that most people will see and sadly remember of this game happened when Brandon Bollig slammed Pardy into the glass and the glass went flying into the stands and while there was a scuffle a fan with plenty of spirits in him took Pardy’s helmet and put it on his own head.  Yep, that was on Twitter instantly!

The Hawks picked up their 10th win of the season fairly easily tonight and have 2 more days off before heading to Dallas on Saturday night.
