Happy Veteran’s Day!

I wanted to take a second and say Huge Thank You to all our Veterans that have served our great country! The word hero in sports is spoken about a lot and we have plenty of great hockey players that call the United Center home and we write and talk about them on this site daily, but it’s the men and woman who had put their lives on the line every day and that have served to keep our country free that are my true heroes.

The Blackhawks organization was founded by Fredric McLaughlin who served in World War I in the 333rd Machine Gun Battalian of the 86th Division. The Division’s nickname was “The Blackhawks”. When McLaughlin won the bid for the Chicago franchise, he named it in honor of his Division.

The Blackhawks also do a fantastic job honoring an active duty and retired veteran before every game at the singing of the National Anthem when 2 of our heroes stands next to Jim Cornielson.

From the very beginning of the Blackhawks franchise, veterans and the military have been in the fabric the team, and to this day Veterans are still a huge part of the franchise and it’s fan base.

To all that have served and are currently serving our country THANK YOU! You are my Hero!
