A surprise move was made this evening, and no it’s not the fact that Michal Handzus was placed on IR. The player to be recalled from Rockford wasn’t Jimmy Hayes, but Alex Broadhurst was called up from Rockford to replace Handzus roster spot.
Handzus has not played since the Blackhawks October 24th loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 6-5 overtime in Tampa Bay. Handzus has played in 9 games this season scoring once with 2 assists.
Alex Broadhurst has played in 16 games scoring 4 times with 7 assists and -1 plus/minus. Broadhurst was a 7th round draft pick in 2011 and will become the 3rd player the Blackhawks drafted in 2011 to make it to Chicago (Andrew Shaw, Brandon Saad). It seem like a bit of a shocker that Broadhurst got the call, and while Broadhurst is with the Blackhawks he will wear #62.
The Blackhawks are about to play 10 games in 17 nights so making a move was bit of necessity. The Circus always rules!
Are you surprised the one recalled was Broadhurst?
LET’S GO HAWKS!!
