The Blackhawks fans showed up in full force on keep out the red night like everyone expected, but the game didn’t start out well for the Hawks with Nikolai Khabibulin giving up two goals in the first period and then when making a save on a Nashville Predators powerplay appeared to pull his groin.  Corey Crawford came in to finish off the contest with a 2-0 hole to dig out from under.

The second period wasn’t any better with the Predators scoring two more times with the last one being a terrible turnover at the blue line by Marcus Kruger that seemed to put the game out of hand late in the second period.  The Hawks played super sloppy for most of the first two periods, but when Patrick Kane was given a 2 on 1 chance he took all the way to finally get the Hawks on the scoreboard.  The Hawks have a lot of work ahead of them to get the score even heading to the third.

The Hawks looked like they were ready to make a third period charge when Brandon Pirri scored early on in the third period (his third straight game with a goal) to cut the Predators lead t0 4-2 in the third period.  You could hear a loud chant from Blackhawks fans of LET’S GO HAWKS on the TV, but the Hawks momentum was extremely short lived when of all people Viktor Stalberg scored to make the score 5-2 and basically out of reach. Mike Fisher and Shea Weber also scored in the third period for the final tally of 7-2 Nashville.

-Kris Versteeg had chances but just couldn’t finish in his first game back with the Hawks

-Everyone was ready to run Khabibulin out on a rail, but Crawford was not mentally ready and gave up 5 goals himself.

-Marian Hossa was a late scratch with a lower body injury.

-Playing Brookbank at forward should never happen (EVER!!!!!)

-With the new injuries that happened tonight it will be interesting to see how Stan juggles the salary cap tomorrow.

-you can always throw out one game like this a season.

Hawks are right back at it Tomorrow night at the United Center against the San Jose Sharks
