Tonight was Nikolai Khabibulin first start since October 29th.  He was 1-0-1 on the season with a  4.74 goals against. Khabibulin got the nod in net tonight to give Corey Crawford a needed day off. Khabibulin would give up two goals in his time the net. Khabibulin had to leave the game with an apparent injury. It appeared to Steve Konroyd Blackhawks analyst that it was a lower body injury. He was trying to stop a shot to his glove side when he double clutched in pain. He laid on the ice for a few minutes before getting up on his skates. He would need help from his defenseman and the trainers to get to his feet. Once on his feet, Khabibulin tried to give it a go, but it was obvious he could not finish. He would leave the game in the 1st period. Corey Crawford would take over in net.  Crawford entered the game down 2-0.

In the short term, the Blackhawks will have to play with one goalie healthy tonight. In the long term, expect a call-up of Annti Raanta from Rockford. Raanta is 6-5 with 2.92 goals against at Rockford this season. There has been no word on what kind of injury Khabibulin sustained.
