Jonathan Toews was undoubtedly the most explosive player on the Blackhawks in the last week, and this time, his offensive stats showed it. After a frustrating game in Colorado where Toews was -2, he single-handedly took care of the Winnipeg Jets in his hometown, with a 4-point electrifying performance in which he earned the First Star honors. Toews scored a short-handed, highlight-reel goal to open the floodgates for the Blackhawks against the Oilers, capping off his week with 5 points in two different games. Without the puck, Toews was up to his usual Selke Trophy-winning antics, with a combined 61% faceoff percentage. As always, Toews’ presence stretches off the ice, and he undoubtedly was a voice of reason that helped his Blackhawks come back against Vancouver, and pull off a big third period in Winnipeg. Toews could be in the running for one of the NHL’s Three Stars if he repeats his performances later in the week.

The Blackhawks will continue on the Canadian portion of their road trip with a game in Calgary on Wednesday, before heading down south for meetings with the Dallas Stars and Phoenix Coyotes on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
