Happy Thanksgiving, Blackhawks fans! Family and friends mean so much to us all, and today I am especially grateful to have amazing people with those special titles in my life. But if we’re going to keep this hockey related, let me explain just how amazing my family and friends are.
A few years ago, I knew of only a few people who even liked hockey. Once I fell in love with the sport and started following the Blackhawks, my friends who knew nothing about it listened to my rambling and would even look up the NHL standings once in a while so they could keep up with me. My family would travel an hour away just to take me to a college hockey game. And now, even from a few states away, my parents will call or text in the middle of a Blackhawks game that we’re both watching to encourage or celebrate with me.
I couldn’t be more grateful for this aspect of my family and friends who first took an interest in hockey because it is something that I care about. So, thanks Mom and Dad, brothers, friends, and coworkers!
And as a Blackhawks fan who became a hockey fan the year after they won the Stanley Cup in 2010, I’m grateful that I didn’t have to wait another 49 years to see my favorite team win! The 48 game season was an incredible one that I’m lucky to have experienced so soon in my love of the game. So, thanks Blackhawks!
What hockey story are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?
