You could see this coming a mile away the second Michal Handzus was put back in the #2 center spot on the circus trip.  The Hawks offense seemed to click with Pirri at second line center position, but Joel Quenneville kept bringing up Pirri’s defensive issues which haven’t been noticeable except for his one lost stick lapse on the road trip.

The real glaring issue as of late has been Pirri’s faceoff percentage which has dropped off dramatically especially after the demotion to the third line late on the circus trip. With Teuvo Teravainen possibly on his way late this year or next season at the latest it was imperative for Pirri to play great in Chicago and after a very strong start he hadn’t played well the past week.  I still think Pirri is a better fit at 2nd line center than Handzus by a mile!

Other roster move back to Rockford is Michael Kostka is being sent down for conditioning after being “real close” for a week now from his foot/ankle injury.

Welcome back Joakim Nordstrom and Jeremy Morin to Chicago.  You have to believe Q has to be getting tired of playing Sheldon Brookbank at forward and the Michal Rozsival‘s play hasn’t been outstanding this year and it seems they want Brookbank as the #6 defenseman more this season.

Hopefully one of these two will step up and play some good hockey like fellow Rockford alum Ben Smith has this season.

What do you think of Pirri’s demotion?
