In a move that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, the Chicago Blackhawks have sent goaltender, Kent Simpson, back down to the Rockford IceHogs, of the AHL. In his place, the Blackhawks have called up newly acquired goaltender, Jason LaBarbera.
Simpson looked outmatched, in his very brief cameo, in the Hawks’ crease, which was to be expected, as his call-up was purely for emergency purposes, and a bit premature. He will go back to Rockford, likely be the main starting goalie, for the time being, and hone his skills.
LaBarbera will likely fill in the role that he was acquired to fill, as a veteran backup goaltender, a role he has experience with, throughout his career.
