The Chicago Blackhawks Remind Me Of A Great Chicago Dynasty

The Chicago Blackhawks are off to another great start to a season and though making some comparisons may be considered a stretch when I turn on the TV to watch this Blackhawks team I’m reminded of another great Chicago team.

The Chicago Bulls of the 90’s were one of the greatest dynasties in NBA history and even though they might not have the mystique of the 85 Bears they were great for a decade and won 6 Championships in 8 seasons and were only really derailed by Michael Jordan’s retirement…the first one.  Yes, this is hockey and some people have already turned this off because I’m mentioning basketball and hockey in the same breath, but this current team does remind me of the last great Chicago dynasty let me tell you why.

4. Both teams had a dynamic duo– Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were two of the greatest players ever to play in the NBA and they have to be the best duo to ever team up together.  Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player and champion to ever play in the NBA and of course the biggest winner to ever play in Chicago. Pippen was the perfect complement to the best player to ever play the game and oh by the way he also won 6 titles.  Flashforward to the United Center in 2013 and in the former home of Jordan and Pippin  another dynamic duo call it home.  Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane are on the path to becoming the greatest duo to ever wear the Blackhawks jersey.  Yes, Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita are currently on top of that perch, but in the end the two greatest scorers in Blackhawks history only hoisted the Cup once, while Toews and Kane before getting past the age of 25 have already won 2 Stanley Cups and both have won a Conn Smythe trophy.   Watching the incredible offensive skills of Kane and the great leadership and ability of Toews on a nightly basis is a treat for Blackhawks fans and one that will hopefully continue for a long time to come.
