Team USA defeated Team Germany at the World Juniors today 8-0 to improve to 3-0-0-0 in the opening stage of the tournament.

Chicago Blackhawks prospect Vinnie Hinostroza had a 4 point day in Sweden scoring two goals and collecting two assists in the blowout victory.  If you watched any of the game it seemed like it was basically a practice and a powerplay practice at that.  The puck seemed to be deep in the Germany end for the entire game, and the Germans couldn’t stop taking penalties.

Team USA scored over 5 powerplay goals in a game where almost every player on the roster got on the scoresheet. Hinostroza played a very good game  and seemed to be everywhere on the ice, and the other Blackhawks prospect Ryan Hartman sure knows how to get under people’s skin.

The big test for Team USA in the opening stage comes Tuesday when they get to face Team Canada, it’s on NHL Network at 11; 30am.  It was interesting when the announcers were talking about great Team USA matchups vs Team Canada in the past 20 years the first name brought up was none other than the Captain’s, Jonathan Toews!

Great Start To the tourney by Team USA and a great showing by the Blackhawks prospects!
