Today the NHL announced its three stars for the Month of December. The First Star was Patrick Kane, Second Star Sidney Crosby, and the Third Star was Jonas Hiller. This is second consecutive month that Patrick Kane has been named 1st Star by the NHL.

In the month of December, Kane compiled impressive numbers. Kane posted a league leading 7 goals, 16 assists for a total of 23 points and a +14 rating. Twenty-Three points is tied for the most in the NHL for the month of December.  Kane also notched a career high 14 game point streak and notched a point in 13 of the Blackhawks 14 NHL games in December. During December the Blackhawks went 8-3-3 and maintained the Central Division lead with 64 points.  Kane’s 14 point game streak was his second ten plus point streak this season. Kane had amassed 17 points in 12 games in the month of November.

Kane has totaled 23 goals, 53 points on the season. His 23 goals are good for second in the NHL and he is second in the lead with 53 points. This season has been good to Kane and the Blackhawks who lead the central division. Kane was also named to the US Olympic Hockey team earlier this week. Kane was the lone Blackhawks selection to team USA.

The Blackhawks take on the New Jersey Devils Friday 1/3/14 at 6:00pm central time.
