Many wondered just how Patrick Sharp would follow-up to Week 12, where he was named the NHL’s First Star. He just kept going. Sharp notched his second hat-trick of the season and fourth of his career against the New Jersey Devils, adding two assists in each of the Blackhawks’ other games in Week 14 for a five-point week. Sharp passed teammate Patrick Kane in goals, and is now only trailing Alexander Ovechkin for the NHL lead, with 25. Sharp is tied with teammates Marian Hossa and Brent Seabrook for second in the League with a +22 rating, and he also ranks second in the NHL with 167 shots. Sharp’s 46 points and 7 power-play goals also put him in the top 10 in each category, respectively. Sharp can kickstart Week 15 with a nomination to the Team Canada Olympic Men’s Hockey Team, when it will be announced Tuesday morning.
The Blackhawks play the New York Rangers on Wednesday, before heading to Montreal to take on the Canadiens on Saturday. Chicago will return home to kick off a four game stand at the United Center, beginning with the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday night.
