Blackhawk Up: Join Our Team! Become The Next Blackhawks Writer

By Keith Schultz

Our staff at Blackhawk Up has been depleted a bit not by people quitting, but people getting promoted to paying jobs within the Fansided network.  Two of our writers are now editors within the network and we have openings available.  We are really looking for a News desk writer during the day when news breaks and some of us are at our day job, a Rockford Ice Hogs writer or of course anyone that wants to write about the Blackhawks.

This would be a great time to join the team with the Olympics right around the corner and of course the playoffs will be here sooner than later. Here are some of the requirements:

News Desk Applicants should be available to cover 3-4 hour shifts during the day/evening and should have a solid command of the English language.

Skills Require:

-Strong use of grammar, punctuation and sentence structure
-Basic understanding of SEO (search engine optimization) but we can help with this

-Monitor relevant team news outlets during your shift, including Twitter and Facebook
-Recognize news-worthy information and provide a short, informative news post to the site (200-300 words, in and out)
-Continue to monitor team news throughout your shift and follow up on any stories until your shift is over
-Provide at least one post during your shift

With the start of the regular season right around the corner, we’re always looking for opinionated and well informed Blackhawks fans to join the team as staff writers and columnists.  If you have Blackhawks thoughts and can consistently produce at least one weekly post, you might be right for our team.

The other position we are looking to fill is the a person to cover the Rockford Ice Hogs during their season in the AHL

Of course if you want to become a regular writer of Blackhawk Up doing features we will always make room for more writers.

If the news desk, regular contributor, or the voice of the Rockford Ice Hogs interests you please send an email to with the Subject Line: Help Wanted. I will get back to you as soon as i possibly can!
