The Rockford IceHogs had one of their slower weeks in recent memory, and were unable to come up with a win in two games. Rockford’s front office was the same story, with only two moves in the past seven days.

Saturday, January 18th @ Chicago Wolves
Rockford kicked off Week 15 with a visit to their biggest rival, the Chicago Wolves. The home team would strike first, as the Wolves took a 1-0 lead with five minutes to go in the first period. Pat Mullane answered 66 seconds later with his third goal of the season, and both teams closed out the first 20 minutes tied at one goal. After a fruitless second period, Ty Rattie scored the game-winning goal with 8 minutes left in regulation, as the Wolves won the game 2-1. Jason LaBarbera made 34 saves, and his efforts earned him the Second Star of the game. The usually chippy affair ended with only 10 minutes in penalties.
Monday, January 20th vs. Toronto Marlies
The ‘Hogs returned back to the BMO Harris Bank Center facing a tough team in the Toronto Marlies. Alex Broadhurst kicked the game off with the lone goal of the first period, his 7th of the season. Toronto would bounce back with two goals in the second period, and in the third, they would score their third unanswered, the eventual game-winner. Joakim Nordstrom scored with eight minutes to go, but it was too little too late, as the ‘Hogs fell at home, 3-2. LaBarbera, making his fourth straight start, made 19 saves, as Drew MacIntyre of the Marlies made 40 at the other end. Nordstrom had a goal and five shots, as he took home the Third Star honors.
- The IceHogs welcomed D Zach Miscovik into the fold on January 17, as he was acquired in a trade San Antonio. Miscovik, who has split the season between the AHL and ECHL levels, has two assists and a -1 rating in 10 AHL games this season.
- D Bobby Shea was sent down to the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL on January 22nd to make room for Miscovik.
The IceHogs kick off a weekend triple-header with the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday on the road, before returning home on Saturday for the Swedish American Health System ‘Pink The Rink’ night. Sunday afternoon will see the finale of the weekend series, and the week, wrap up back in Milwaukee.
