20. Carolina Hurricanes 25-20-9: The Canes are 6-4 in their last ten games. The Carolina Hurricanes have been playing without their starting goalie Cam Ward since 12/31/13. Ward was assigned to their AHL affiliate for a conditioning assignment. In his absence Anton Khudobin is 10-3.

19. The Philadelphia Flyers 27-23-6: The Flyers are 4-4-2 in their last ten games. Steve Mason is 21-14-5 with a 2.54 goals against average with a 9.16 save percentage. This is the second best season for Mason. Were the Flyers right to give him an extension?

18. Detroit Red wings 24-19-11: The Red Wings are getting healthier. Henrik Zetterberg and Jimmy Howard returned to the lineup this past week. However, Johan Franzen is not coming back, he will sit out the Olympics due to injury.

17. The Dallas Stars 25-21-9: The Stars are 5-3-2 in their last ten games. Stars backup Dan Ellis blanked the Anaheim Ducks 2-0. Ellis is 5-5-0 with a 2.94 goals against average and a .904 save percentage.

16. Columbus Blue Jackets 28-23-4: The Blue Jackets have cooled off, they are only 7-3 in their last ten games. They have won two in a row. Nathan Horton has 4 goals and 5 assist this season. Horton has been the jump starter of the Blue Jackets hot streak.

15. Phoenix Coyotes 26-19-10: The Coyotes are 5-4-1 in the last ten. The Coyotes are becoming frustration with their poor play as of late. Well changing their name from the Phoenix Coyotes to the Arizona Coyotes should help them out.  Keith Yandle has 6 goals and 29 assists this season
