On This Date in Chicago Blackhawks History,

On February 5, 1995 The Chicago Blackhawks traveled to Vancouver to take on the Canucks. The Blackhawks jumped on them from the opening faceoff with Brent Sutter scoring the fastest goal in franchise history getting the first tally of the game 8 seconds into the contest.

The Blackhawks wouldn’t look back in the 9-5 win over the Canucks, and the game also included the first hat trick in a Chicago jersey by Bernie Nicholls with it actually being a 4 goal game and the first of three hat tricks in 44 days for Nicholls.

The Greatest 17 seconds in Blackhawks history was played out on Boston Bruins ice last June with the Hawks winning their 5th Stanley Cup, but on this date 19 years ago today the Fastest Goal to start a game in Blackhawks history took 8 seconds and it went into the record books with a goal off of Brent Sutter’s stick in Vancouver!
